How the Plot Area Calculator Works
A plot area calculator is useful when you know the physical length and width of a piece of land but need its total area. Instead of manually converting between feet, yards, metres, Marla and Kanal, the calculator performs the conversions at the same time.
The calculator first converts both dimensions into feet. It then calculates the rectangular area and uses that result for all additional conversions. This means you can enter a length in metres and a width in feet if your measurements happen to use different units.
For example, a rectangular plot measuring 25 feet wide and 50 feet long has an area of 1,250 square feet.

Square metres are part of the metric system and are useful when dimensions are provided in metres or when comparing measurements with metric plans and drawings.
Marla and Kanal
Marla and Kanal remain familiar land-area terms in Pakistan. Because the square-foot value assigned to a Marla can differ between measurement systems or property schemes, this calculator allows you to select the Marla standard used for your property.

What If the Plot Is Not Rectangular?
This calculator is designed for square and rectangular land. If a plot has unequal boundaries, angled corners, a curved boundary or another irregular shape, simply multiplying one length by one width may produce an inaccurate result.
A simple irregular plot can sometimes be divided into smaller rectangles or triangles and calculated section by section. For property transactions, boundary disputes, registry work or construction requiring precise measurements, a qualified surveyor should be used instead of relying only on an online calculator.
Common Plot Measurement Mistakes
Small mistakes in dimensions can create noticeable differences when calculating larger areas. Check the following before using the result:
- Do not mix feet and metres without selecting the correct unit beside each input.
- Do not assume that every property described using the same Marla count has the same square-foot measurement.
- Do not use rectangular-area calculations for an irregular plot without breaking the land into appropriate sections.
- Distinguish actual plot area from covered area or constructed floor area. These are not necessarily the same measurement.
- For legal matters, use the dimensions recorded in official documents and confirm them with the relevant authority or professional when necessary.
Why Does the Calculator Ask for a Marla Standard?
Your actual length-by-width calculation does not depend on a Marla standard. A 30 by 60 foot rectangle always contains 1,800 square feet.
The Marla setting is only needed when that square-foot area is converted into Marla and Kanal. Selecting 272.25 square feet per Marla and selecting 225 square feet per Marla will therefore produce different Marla values from the same physical land area.
